The cap top is a serviceable item and should be replaced every 3-6 months.

The rubber seal around the surface of the cap top can become perished and damaged by ink corrosion. If there is no seal between the print head and the cap top then the ink will not be pulled through the print head during any cleaning cycles.

If the cap top is blocked then the waste ink will not be pulled through and flow into the waste ink container.
